CORPORATE PROFILE

Following the series of reforms being under-taken by the Federal Government of Nigeria in various Sectors including the Educational Sector, geared toward making Nigeria a better Nation and a study carried out in the Niger Delta Region on Education between 2004 –2005 which shows that a lot of Children and Youths are still Illiterates, as a result live in abject poverty, hence, vulnerable to living a wild life or turns out to be restive and the continues youth restiveness in the Region, the Niger Delta Academic Foundation was initiated and registered as a Social/Youth NON GOOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATION in Port Harcourt Nigeria with Registration Number MYEE/YD/20/S.6176

 

The Niger Delta Academic Foundation is a Non Governmental Organization initiated by a Youth and made up of Youths since 2005, whose aims, objectives, mission, vision and goal is geared towards promoting an increased awareness on the need for all children and youths of school age from the Niger Delta to be Literates (Educated Academically) and as well, take action to encourage the Development of the academic potentials of students from the Niger Delta.

 

The basis of our formation is to compliment the reforms in the Educational Sector, being under-taken by the Nigerian Government and to change the Mind-set of the Youths from being restive, to being educated, because we believe, that  Education is the Lifeline to the anticipated Future of the Niger Delta.

Our Action Plan is hinged on the United Nations Millennium Development Goal on ‘Education For All’ by the year 2015(MDG 2&3) and the United Nations Millennium Declaration to ensure that by the year 2015, children every where, boys and girls alike, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling and have equal access to all levels of Education, and as well, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child “Article 28”.

 

Since the Government of Nigeria in its reforms, has made Education Free for the First Nine years of Formal Education in Nigeria (Universal Basic Education Programme), we want to compliment this government reform, by encouraging Children and Youths from the Region, to enroll in the Universal Basic Education Programme (for those who are not yet enrolled) and promote the Academic potentials of those already enrolled, up, to the Secondary Education Level (Secondary School) and ultimately attaining the Tertiary Education Level (University, Polytechnic, College) through our Mission.

 

The anticipated out come of our Mission, shall have an Impact on Niger Delta Children and Youths (School aged / Students) in particular and the Niger Delta Region (NIGERIA) in general; If the Children and Youths are Educated (academically) up to the Level of having a First Degree (Tertiary Education Level), both the Children and the Youths in particular shall be Cultured, Mannered, Well behaved, Peace loving, Dialogue oriented and Innovative. This means that Nigeria’s Oil wells, Flow stations, Public & Private Institutions and Our beloved Federal Republic of Nigeria shall hence be free from youth restiveness in the Niger Delta. In the Light of this, shall be A New Niger Delta Region characterized with Peace, Stability and Socio Economic Development.

 

The Niger Delta Academic Foundation believes and sees Education (Academic Literacy) as a pivotal player in actualizing the aforementioned. Although the Government is doing her best possible, but can not do it all alone. Therefore, N D A F beckons on the International and Domestic Community, Governments, Public and Private Sector, Organizations, Firms operating in the Niger Delta, Public-spirited Individuals and Philanthropists to Support and Encourage the NIGER DELTA ACADEMIC FOUNDATION.
