DANIEL IBIGONI SEMENIWORIMA, The Director/CEO of the Niger Delta Academic Foundation, founded this organization with a mission of DEVELOPING AND ESTABLISHING THE ACADEMIA WITHIN THE NIGER DELTA REGION, TO ATTAIN&nbsp;A WORLD-CLASS STANDARD BY THE YEAR 2015. In line with the United Nations Millennium Development Goal. This mission&nbsp;will be achieved with the formation of a formidable team to work with the Director/CEO. <o:p></o:p> You can be part of that team wherever you are; all you need to do is be a part of&nbsp;the&nbsp;NDAF, by clicking <A href="http://ndafonline.bravehost.com/partnership.html">http://ndafonline.bravehost.com/partnership.html</A>. &nbsp; DIRECTOR/CEO'S DESK OUR PROJECT BACKGROUND<o:p></o:p> <o:p>&nbsp;</o:p>The state of poverty in the Niger Delta region of the Nigeria where an average citizen lives below a dollar per day has led to a situation where an average citizen cannot afford the cost of education up to having a tertiary education successfully. <o:p></o:p> <o:p>&nbsp;</o:p> The average cost of sending a child to school in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region><st1:place>Nigeria</st1:place></st1:country-region> is put at three hundred dollar per annum; most average citizen cannot afford this cost. To properly cushion effect of this cost it is expected that the annual budget of the government should set aside 26% for education but presently the highest percentage of the annual government budget for education is put at 10% hence negating the realization of education for all.<o:p></o:p> <o:p>&nbsp;</o:p> Consequently different state governments and oil multinationals in the region have ignited different plans of action for the actualization of Education For All. The Federal Government have also ignited different strategies such as the UBE Programme and some other soon coming programmes and policies to also help in the actualization of Education For All with special priorities for citizens of the <st1:country-region><st1:place>Niger</st1:place></st1:country-region> Delta.<o:p></o:p> <o:p>&nbsp;</o:p> However, most of these plans of action have failed to see the light of the day or failed to achieved its desired objective as a result of some inhibiting factors such as Lack of Funding, Lack of Public Access to such programmes and Policies as well as a Lack of an open door policy that embraces all and sundry in the Education Sector and Corruption.<o:p></o:p> <o:p>&nbsp;</o:p> The above has led to a situation where many states in the region have been tagged (Educationally Less Developed States - ELDS) for example Rivers and <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Cross</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType>Rivers</st1:PlaceType> <st1:PlaceType>States</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>. It has also led to a situation where many citizens of the region are unemployed as a result of their lack of the training standards required especially in the oil sector because of the very inability for them to afford the cost of Education up to the required standards for employment due to poverty. <o:p></o:p> <o:p>&nbsp;</o:p> In fact, according to the 2005 fourth quarter edition of the International Development Magazine, 75 million Nigerians approximately 50% of the citizens live in absolute poverty, 7 million children, mostly girls do not have access to basic education. Paradoxically the <st1:country-region><st1:place>Niger</st1:place></st1:country-region> Delta region which happens to be the main stay of the Nigerian Economy is the worst hit by this sad development with the increasing spate of youth restiveness emanating from poverty and unemployment as a result of illiteracy.<o:p></o:p> <o:p>&nbsp;</o:p> Our Projects will therefore address the issues of illiteracy in the Niger Delta by practically rendering assistance to less privilege families, rural dwellers and other affected citizens in and out of school by providing Aid, Logistics, Bursary and Scholarship to all those affected by our projects and as well campaigning vigorously to reinstate Ideal Education in the whole Educational system in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria in order to provide Quality Education For All that will ultimately conquer poverty.<o:p></o:p> &nbsp;
